Project Brief
Ghost Drive is a privacy first file storage and sharing platform designed for founders, teams, and creators who need to upload files, organize projects, and share securely without the complexity of enterprise tools. The goal was to build a clean, modern drive experience that feels fast on day one, while still offering the controls professionals expect for client sharing and internal collaboration.

Problem Statement
Most drive products create one of two problems: either sharing is too loose and risky, or the platform becomes so complex that teams avoid using it properly. Ghost Drive needed a product experience that makes uploading and sharing effortless, but also makes access control, link safety, and activity transparency feel obvious and reliable.
Problem 1
Users needed clear permissions, link rules, and expiry options to prevent accidental oversharing and reduce client side confusion.
Problem 2
As files grow, folders alone are not enough. Users needed faster ways to find, sort, and return to important files.
Problem 3
When files are sensitive, users need to know who accessed what, when it happened, and what changed, without digging.

Solution
The experience was designed around a simple promise: store, find, and share files with confidence. Ghost Drive connects fast everyday actions like upload and share with professional level clarity like permissions, access history, and predictable states so the product feels safe and scalable.
Solution 1
A guided share modal with clear roles (viewer, commenter, editor), link settings, expiry, and copy ready sharing that reduces mistakes.
Solution 2
Recents, starred, smart filters, and quick search patterns that help users retrieve files in seconds, not minutes.
Solution 3
An activity timeline and clear feedback states for uploads, link creation, permission changes, and downloads to build trust.
Design Process
Understand the Problem
Define user roles, sharing risks, and success metrics like time to upload, time to share, and file retrieval speed.
Research
Audit popular drive patterns, identify where users get confused in sharing, and map the minimum controls needed for trust.
Wireframe the Structure
Plan flows for upload, folder and tag structure, share permissions, link settings, activity history, and empty states.
Visual Design
Create a calm, high clarity UI system for dashboards, tables, file rows, and modals with strong hierarchy and predictable actions.
Prototype & Test
Prototype core flows (upload, share, permission edits, search) and refine based on stakeholder feedback and friction points.

Conclusion
Ghost Drive delivers a modern cloud drive experience that balances speed with control. The final UX makes sharing safer, finding files faster, and collaboration clearer through strong hierarchy, permission first design, and trust building transparency patterns that scale with team growth.
